Our Philosophy
We do not optimise for industry awards
Some safari operators spend more on award submissions than they do on guide training. At Bobby Safaris, we invest in the experience itself — in the vehicles, the guides, the relationships with the camps, and the itineraries that our guests remember for life.
That said, certain credentials matter. Regulatory registration. Industry membership. Verified guest reviews. These are not marketing — they are accountability. Below is what we have, and why it matters.
Official Credentials
Industry registration & membership
Tanzania Tourist Board
Registered tour operator with the Tanzania Tourist Board (TTB) — the official regulatory body for tourism operators in Tanzania. This registration is the legal foundation for legitimate safari operations.
Registration with the TTB means we are subject to their oversight, bonded where required, and accountable through official channels. It is not a marketing badge — it is a legal requirement that separates registered operators from unregistered brokers.
Tanzania Association of Tour Operators
Member of TAATO — the Tanzania Association of Tour Operators. TAATO is the principal trade association for legitimate safari operators in Tanzania, representing operators who meet ethical and operational standards.
TAATO membership is by application and peer endorsement. It means we are known to, and vouched for by, other established operators in the Arusha safari community. It is not available to booking agencies or foreign-registered intermediaries.
Guest Recognition
4.8/5 — Verified by 154 guests
TripAdvisor is the world's most-visited travel review platform. Unlike industry awards, TripAdvisor reviews come from people who have actually travelled with us — and their feedback is publicly visible, unedited, and permanent.
Our 4.8-star TripAdvisor average across 154 verified reviews is not a curated sample. It includes every guest who has chosen to share their experience on TripAdvisor. We do not remove negative reviews, do not offer incentives for positive ones, and do not respond with templates.

“The safari of a lifetime. Don personally arranged everything and our guide Joseph was extraordinary. Cannot recommend Bobby Safaris highly enough.”

Stone Town, Zanzibar — First African nation to host the WTA Global Final in its 32-year history
Industry Milestone
Tanzania hosts the World Travel Awards 2026
In August 2026, Tanzania will host the World Travel Awards Global Final in Zanzibar — the first time in the awards' 32-year history that an African nation has held this prestigious ceremony.
The World Travel Awards is widely regarded as the “Oscars of travel” — an industry-voted programme where the world's leading tour operators, hoteliers, and travel advisors select the finest operators in each destination.
For Tanzania, this moment represents formal industry recognition of what Bobby Safaris has known since 1978: that Tanzania is one of the world's great safari destinations. Our guest experiences — the Serengeti, the Crater, the migration, the coast — are being recognised by the global travel industry at the highest level.

What We Prioritise
Why we focus on credentials over awards
What we invest in
- Guide training and retention (15–30 year careers)
- Vehicle maintenance and fleet upgrades
- Camp and lodge relationship management
- Guest communication and personal service
- Conservation partnerships
- Continuous itinerary refinement
What we do not prioritise
- Award submission fees to travel marketing bodies
- Public relations agencies for editorial placement
- Sponsored content in travel publications
- Industry awards judged by small panels
- Marketing-optimised review solicitation
- Social media follower campaigns
“The question to ask any safari operator is simple: who owns this company, and will they still be here in thirty years? At Bobby Safaris, the answer to both parts is the same: the Kassim family of Arusha.”
